With so many options available, bedding can feel like a bit of a minefield. The best material for one person, might be completely different for another… also tricky if you’re sharing your bed. We’ve put together a few points below of the benefits of each fabric to give you a helping hand in selecting the best fit for you!
Silk – Luxurious, lightweight, soft, naturally hypo-allergenic (great for allergy sufferers and sensitive skin), temperature regulating. Watch out though – these materials can be costly and harder to clean.
Egyptian Cotton – Luxurious, lightweight, soft, natural, great for sensitive skin – Again this material can be quite costly and harder to clean!
Cotton – Soft, natural, lightweight, breathable, great for sensitive skin, durable, easily washable. Watch out for thread counts though, the higher the thread count, often the higher the price. Also very absorbent, so if you perspire during the night, this might not be the fabric for you.
Linen – Breathable, good in warm weather, soft, durable, natural. Linen can be expensive and wrinkles easily!
Polyester – Durable, can handle regular washing and drying, wrinkle and fade resistant, easy-care, often paired with cotton for benefits of both materials. Careful though, it’s not great for people with sensitive skin and isn’t a very eco-friendly option!
Wool – Natural, good insulator and temperature regulating, soft, breathable, wicks moisture away. Not always good for allergy sufferers and can have a greater price tag!
Bamboo – Soft, lightweight, breathable, natural, antimicrobial, wicks moisture, easily washable, can be eco-friendly!
